The name actually came about from customers who referred to Warren as the "Magman" because when they were having problems with their wheels he can always be relied upon to come up with a solution. Warren started working with wheels back in the 60's as an apprentice engineer in Palmerston North designing and making the very first set of alloy wheels in the country for his own vehicle. This inspired the company he worked for, D G Ward Ltd to start manufacturing wheels on a production basis. Warren produced their first die and was involved in the first production run. In the 70's Warren and Russell Dixon formed Dixon Engineering Ltd, which continued to develop and produce new styles of wheels including the "Hot Wire" which became a very popular design. For many years they also produced alloy caravan and trailer wheels as well and went on to produce the alloy bicycle wheels for the Pantha BMX bike. They operated their own foundry and with a team of staff completed all aspects of production themselves. Warren estimates he has machined and produced in the vicinity of 300,000 wheels over the years. It is this wide and unique experience and understanding of metal and how it reacts under heat and stress that gives Warren his "expert" status. In 1987 Warren decided to leave the production side and concentrate on the repair of alloy wheels. He no longer manufactures mags, the exception being the wheels exclusively made for the Countess Mouldings Ltd replica "Lamborghini Contach". We sell only quality products and give quality service and advice based on years of experience in the field. |
